We are a small multi-purpose, hobby breeder. This means we occasionally breed a litter after serious consideration of temperament, structure, longevity, and sound health, both in the Goldens being bred, and in their pedigrees. Our Goldens live with us in our home.
Our ideal golden is primarily a handsome, talented jack-of-all trades. It has the drive, intelligence, bidability and structure to successfully compete in all the golden sports; conformation, obedience, tracking, agility, hunting, in addition to being a faithful and relaxed family companion, and well-behaved community member, with training.
We compete in American Kennel Club (AKC) events with our Goldens, so we can publicly verify their worthiness to be bred. Competing against other Goldens at both Specialties and all-breed shows allows us to document the confidence, athletic soundness, trainability, and intelligence of the dogs we breed, those we choose to breed to, and evaluate the litters we produce.
We also screen our breeding stock for OFA hips, elbows, heart, and CERF eye clearances by board-certified practitioners. Our dogs do not have allergies nor are on any medications except Heartworm preventive.
We have been active members of the GRCA (Golden Retriever Club of America) and Mile Hi Golden Retriever Club since 1993. I am an AKC Breeder of Merit. Kathy has a BS in Genetics from Cal-Berkeley and a Masters Developmental Genetics from SMU, so this truly is a hobby she is very passionate about.
